Compassion Fatigue: The Cost of Caring
September 29 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm
2020 has been described as the year of H-E-double toothpicks. With pandemic, business closure, unemployment, physical distancing, wildfire, civil unrest, political strife and so much loss, is it any wonder we’re collectively tired and feeling empathy overload? Where will we land?
During this Uplift Kitsap, South Kitsap Fire Chief Jeff Faucett will lead discussion about the realities of compassion fatigue within our various professions and how to better support our self and staff over the 2020 tipping point.
- The difference between compassion fatigue, burnout, and general unhappiness
- Signs, factors, and triggers of workplace compassion fatigue
- Mitigation strategies and action planning for healthy organizations and people
Jeff Faucett worked his way up through the fire service ranks and became fire chief of South Kitsap Fire and Rescue on July 1, 2020, after 28 years of volunteer and career firefighter service. Chief Faucett holds a bachelor’s degree of Fire Administration and a master’s degree in Management and Leadership. He is currently the past president of the Leadership Kitsap Foundation. Chief Faucett has a passion for a strong healthy community, providing leadership for fire and life safety in our community, and preparing the next generation of fire and EMS personnel. Chief Faucett and his wife, Fawnda, have been married for twenty-six years. They have three children and will be grandparents in October 2020!
